Veniero's Conquers Mice, DOH; Now Open for Business

East Village: We got a couple reports over the weekend that the shuttered Veniero's was back in business but didn't want to report without the photographic evidence. And there she is as of 10:30 a.m., apparently mouse poop and vermin-free.

East Village: Oh dear lord no. Legendary East Village pastry shop Veniero's was just shut down by the evildoers at the DOH. You'll have to get your cannolis, rainbow cookies, and black forest cake elsewhere for the time being. [DOHWire]
UPDATE: A reader sends in a new photo of a handwritten sign added to the window. It explains that the DOH'ing was due to a "Capital Improvement Project" that was of course, planned. We've all heard it all before Veniero's. You'd be better off putting up fake signs a la this place.
