Now serving your barbecue needs on the Upper Lower East Side is Georgia's Eastside BBQ, officially opening today on the block of Orchard Street that's under the heel of Jason Pomeranc's forthcoming hotel. The opening follows a FloFab reveal yesterday on Georgia's owner, New Hampshire native Alan Natkiel, who did time in Georgia before moving north. Per FloFab, the early word is good: "He slowly steams his dry-rubbed baby back ribs and pork shoulders over beer until the meat nearly falls from the bone, then finishes them on the grill. The meat is lush and tender, with heat from spices and a slather of his own edgy sauce." The space, a Plywood veteran, is seen above in Full Kalina. Suitably compact, to be sure, but there's delivery to the neighborhood.
1) Lower East Side: Signs of life in the long-dormant Petrosino space on Houston Street and Norfolk. Looks like it's going to be called Remedy Diner. Low-grade plywood signage: never a good sign. [PRE-PLYWOOD]
2) Lower East Side: Judging by photos submitted this week to the Eater Photo Pool, Orchard Street newcomer (and Plywood vet) Georgia's Eastside BBQ is ready to open, but the gates are still down. Assume they're waiting for paperwork? [POST-PLYWOOD]
3) East Village: A tipster emails, "Re: the shuttering of Pizzeria Uno on 55 3rd Avenue between 10th and 11th. A few months back, the owners of Jane and The Neptune Room made a deal to have the lease at 553rd Avenue turned over to them starting July 1. Plans are to do a more downscale dorm-friendly Jane-style place. At least, this was what one of the Jane managers told me." [PRE-PLYWOOD]
... pulled pork, that is! Oh-ho! Following up on Friday's special BBQ-flavored Plywood report, an Eater reader sends along the above photos, snapped on Orchard Street below Houston. Our search for intel about what looks to be called Georgia's Eastside BBQ led us to this Flickr photoset, seemingly assembled by a friend of the owner. Who knows more about what's going on here? Liquor license situation?

PLYWOOD UPDATE: As several alert readers and commenters pointed out, Friday's Plywood report with photos of a mysterious venue on Ludlow Street is none other than Plywood vet Chickie Pig. Looks like that April opening date was a tad aggressive, no?
