A Washington, DC Checkers training manager has been sentenced after pleading guilty to stealing the identity of one of his employees. On Wednesday, courts told William Hasson that he'd be spending only 10 months in jail after stealing his employee's social security number and opening 16 credit card accounts with it, reports the Washington Post.
Hasson used the fraudulent credit cards to go on vacations to places like Six Flags Great America in Chicago and to take shopping trips at the WalMart Supercenter in Illinois. An experienced thief who has served time for similar charges before, Hasson stupidly posted photos of his various exploits on Facebook. This allowed authorities to tie the purchases in the employee's name to Hasson's wherabouts and activities on Facebook. Assistant U.S. Attorney Stephanie Miller told the Washington Post that the sentence was only 10 months because Hasson stole less than $5,000 from his employee. Miller is also looking into the possibility that Hasson may be behind the $16,000 in "fraudelent credit card purchases" reported by another employee of the same Checkers location.
