Police in Australia pursued a stolen ice cream truck for nearly an hour earlier this week. According to the Daily Mail, a 45-year-old Australian man jumped behind the wheel of a Peters Ice Cream truck and drove off with the "treat-filled" vehicle. The truck was spotted on the highway and nearly a dozen police cars joined the chase. Though, to be precise, it was less of a chase and more of crawl because the van going just 60 kilometers per hour (37 miles per hour).
Several times during the chase authorities attempted to stop or slow the driver with road spikes. The Daily Telegraph notes that the tires became so shredded that the van "was barely riding on the rims." The driver stopped the truck and attempted to getaway on foot, but was arrested after. Don't worry though, a police spokesperson promises the Daily Telegraph that "the ice-creams were OK." Phew.
