The FYI channel announced today a new series with ex-cheftestapant and DC-based chef Spike Mendelsohn called Midnight Feast. A brief run (six one-hour episodes), the show will be a "late-night culinary showdown" inside NYC's Chelsea Market in which the winner "gets cash and the losers pay the bill."
FYI also ordered two hour-long pilots. The first is Say It To My Face with Daniel Holzman and Michael Chernow, the owners of NYC's spherical ground meat restaurant mini-chain The Meatball Shop. The show's concept is that it "gives chefs and restaurant owners a chance to defend themselves before their toughest online critics." And then Holzman and Chernow will makeover their restaurant because... Yelpers are the worst?
The second pilot is Reverse Course. Hosted by ex-cheftestapant and chef Sam Talbot, according to the release "he takes the farm-to-table concept to the extreme and tells the story of food like no one else has - in reverse."
Back in February A+E Networks announced the launch of FYI, a new network focusing on "personal creativity" and "adventurous approach to viewers' taste, space, look, journey and more." Food-related shows include one with the guys behind YouTube's Epic Meal Time will be getting their own series, fittingly called The Epic Meal Show. There's also The Feed, a "part road show, part buddy comedy, part talk show," starring Top Chef judge Gail Simmons, NYC chef and The Taste judge Marcus Samuelsson, and comedian and Eater's former Top Chef recapper Max Silvestri.
