Now that recreational marijuana is legal in Colorado, an enterprising company is setting up a weed-centric play on a bed and breakfast — a "bud and breakfast"— in Denver. According to a press release, a company that will soon be known as "The MaryJane Group, Inc." has signed a one-year lease with the owners of the Adagio Bed and Breakfast, which it plans to transform into its "pilot project in the marijuana-friendly lodging industry."
Guests who stay at this take on a B&B will be given a package that includes "unlimited food, drink and, of course, the best marijuana and marijuana edibles Colorado has to offer." There will also be an "on-site chef available to prepare gourmet foods cooked to order" and they will "provide unlimited luxury transportation within the Denver city limits with 24-hour security."
The Denver Business Journal reports that the soon-to-be MaryJane Group, Inc. also currently provides debt financing to marijuana growers and has many other "marijuana-related" business. The company's website notes that they offer cannabis tours and are also involved with a weed-friendly radio station.
This isn't the first time Coloradans have attempted to mix weed and food since it was legalized on January 1. Hapa Sushi Grill & Sake Bar, which has locations in Denver and Boulder, introduced weed-and-sushi pairing menus at the beginning of this year. There is no word yet on when the bud and breakfast will open. See the press release:
