Three men were arrested after an April Fool's Day prank at a California In-N-Out Burger led to the dispatch of a dozen patrol cars and a police helicopter (oops): The LA Times reports three men staged a carjacking at a San Bernardino County location of In-N-Out, fooling a friend into thinking his car had been stolen.
During the prank, the customer/rube witnessed his car leaving the parking lot; a friend who had stayed with the car reported he was punched by a carjacker, who took off in the vehicle. The "victim" called 911, and police were dispatched for a search of the car before the April Fools admitted it was a joke. The three pranksters were charged with falsely reporting a crime.
