Philadelphia restaurateur/Iron Chef Jose Garces will soon open his first-ever New York City restaurant: Details are slim at the moment, but Eater NY reports that Garces' as-yet-unnamed restaurant will be inside the upcoming "monster dining and retail complex" Brookfield Place. The complex, a revamp of Lower Manhattan's former World Financial Center, already boasted several familiar concepts: A Hudson East "food court" promises outposts of Blue Ribbon Sushi, Mighty Quinn's Barbecue, Umami Burger, and Dos Toros; while Rich Torisi and Mario Carbone will open an outpost of Parm in a space specifically reserved for restaurants.
According to Eater NY, Garces' concept will fit into that six-spot restaurant row, which Brookfield leasing director Edward Hogan promises will be outfitted with "a diverse set of options." Garces currently operates restaurants in Philadelphia, Chicago, Atlantic City, Scottsdale, and Palm Springs, with an Argentine steakhouse still on the way in Washington, DC. Updates as they become available.
