Montreal native Anna Savittieri has launched a Kickstarter to raise $1,500 to help her produce a short documentary on the "various ramifications of the tipping system." Tipping has seen quite a bit of backlash lately from a range of prominent figures including NYT critic Pete Wells and a whole bunch of restaurateurs. Savittieri writes on her Kickstarter page that she aims to examine what the custom of tipping means for "fair wage, discrimination, and women's issues" by speaking with people who work in the service industry in Chicago, New York, Boston, and Washington DC. So far, she's managed to raise $250 . Here's the Kickstarter video:
