Last night on the Daily Show, host Jon Stewart weighed in on two potential food shortages threatening the nation's ability to snack with abandon on Super Bowl Sunday: a Velveeta shortage and a bacon shortage. Of the Velveeta shortage — supposedly caused by increased demand and also a recall — Stewart questions whether it might be a PR stunt: "Are you implying that the makers of Velveeta would attempt to pass off as real some sort of blatantly artificial, clearly unnatural synthetic creation?" The potential bacon shortage may come as a result of increased pork prices due to a pig virus. Stewart suggests maybe a bacon shortage is what America's waistline needs: "If there's one risk America's running, it's not eating too little bacon." Go, watch:
