It looks like the battle between a group of elderly patrons and the management at a Flushing, Queens McDonald's has come to an end. According to the New York Observer's Politicker, local politicians and community leaders stepped into the feud, which began when the management called the cops on a group of "elderly Korean patrons" who were using the McDonald's as a meeting place, ordering little, and staying for hours.
A "McResolution" press release quoted by Politicker, explains that management at the McDonald's franchise has agreed to "extend sitting hours for seniors except high-traffic hours" and "post signs to communicate in both Chinese and Korean." New York Daily News reports that the McDonald's will also "will look into hiring workers who speak Mandarin and Korean." Perhaps most importantly, management has also agreed not to call the police if they have further trouble with their older patrons; rather they will contact their local politician's office.
