KFC has announced that they will auction various memorabilia belonging to founder Colonel Sanders that apparently has been kept under lock and key in Louisville, KY. KFC is partnering with Dallas-based Heritage Auctions, who earlier this summer auctioned the famous Colonel Sanders white suit for $21,510. Proceeds from the auction will benefit Feeding America and the World Food Programme as part of KFC's Recipe for Hope program.
Items in the auction include a leather portrait of the Colonel, a framed Senate proclamation on the Colonel's 90th birthday, and a key to St. Louis. The items mostly range in price from $50 to $100, with the most expensive starting bid at $500 for a Colonel Sanders double-sided weathervane, which "was at one time common on top of KFC restaurants in the U.S." The auction is now live, and runs through October 28.
