Residents in Alameda, California have expressed concerns that an upcoming location of In-N-Out Burger would bring more crime to their city. The Alamedan reports that District Attorney Nancy O'Malley has questioned if the burger joint's late-night hours could provide a "vulnerable site" for potential robberies (the new In-N-Out is planned for the Webster Tube that connects Alameda and Oakland, CA).
Several local police officers have weighed in on the potential impact of the new restaurant, with many saying that the In-N-Outs in their respective cities have not drawn more crime. Says one, "It certainly hasn't generated more calls for service than any other like businesses in the city (that) I am aware of." The Alamedan notes that the Webster Tube intersection is already home to several fast-food spots with late-night hours, incuding Burger King, Taco Bell, and a 24-hour Jack In The Box.
