In celebration of National Donut Day, Today's Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb sampled the craze-inducing Cronut from NYC's Dominique Ansel Bakery on air this morning. In between clearly enjoyed bites, Hoda gives a brief summary of all things Cronut: that it's a doughnut-croissant hybrid, that the lines have been epic, and that there are now scalpers.
Kathie Lee questions Ansel's decision not to produce more on a daily basis, saying: "The owner says he will not make additional Cronuts to keep up with demand. Is he not American?" Turns out he's actually French, and he told Eater he's focusing on "quality over quantity."
