In what is surely the worst nightmare of every meat-eater, a Whole Foods mix-up means that some carnivores might have eaten vegan salads this week. Oh, and some vegans maybe ate chicken. Oops. According to the Associated Press, Whole Foods stores in the Northeast mixed up the labels for their curried chicken salad and their vegan curried "chick'n" salad at its cold food bars. This travesty occurred on Tuesday and Wednesday at 15 stores in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Jersey, and New York.
Whole Foods says that no illnesses have been reported by meat-eaters who might be allergic to the soy in the vegan version or by vegans who might be allergic to the egg in the regular version. There's no word, however, on the psychological damages that either might have suffered. Anyway, the grocer is recalling both salads and posting signs in stores today. Associated Press writer Candice Choi posted the sign on Twitter, writing that she finds it "confusing."
