Paula Deen might be a scurrilous private jet-flying, secret banana-wielding, doughnut burger-inventing, fist kabob-dishing grease queen with a multi-million deal with a pharmaceutical giant, but she's an actual artist as well. The television personality continues her image rehabilitation campaign — now she's a vegetable-eating weight loss expert who doesn't believe in secrets — and she's set to appear on the cover of the February 2013 issue of Woman's Day with "stay-slim secrets." Also of interest is an online "behind the scenes" look inside her Savannah home which includes photos at her improbable shell artwork. Take it away Woman's Day:
Paula's taken up a new hobby inspired by a local Savannah woman known as The Shell Lady. After trying her hand at the art, Paula calls shelling "the best therapy ever." She starts with a basic stone bust, and then creates her own designs by hot-gluing seashells and starfish. The completed bust pictured here served as a centerpiece for the day.
And don't think it's just limited to a couple of busts. Deen writes on her blog: "I've done picture frames, the handles on serving utensils—you name it, I've shelled it, y'all!"
