Chef David Chang continues his pursuit of turning the entire world into one big happy lucky peach, announcing via Twitter some upcoming Momofuku-branded products: "Hozön: fermented nuts, grains, veg Bönji: umami essence ?chi-geüm: liquid-gold #comingsoon." He didn't elaborate beyond those descriptions (although presumably he does not mean actual liquid gold). Momofuku's test kitchen has played with fermenting various nuts for miso in the past, so perhaps that's the Hozön? Anyway, from the looks of a 2010 Momofuku trademark, these products are just the beginning.
The trademark covers a whole bunch of food products. Check it out:
Goods and Services: Barbecue sauce; Cake mixes; Chili sauce; Cookie mixes; Dipping sauces; Hot sauce; Ice cream mixes; Ice cream powder; Mixes for bakery goods; Noodles; Noodles and sauce mixes combined in unitary packages; Noodles and seasoning mixes combined in unitary packages; Noodles, sauce, and topping combined in unitary packages; Ready-made sauces; Soy sauce; Teriyaki sauce.
Momofuku already sells cooking sauces and Milk Bar cookies mixes through Williams-Sonoma. Perhaps the new products will turn up at Williams-Sonoma as well? Stay tuned.
