Here's a helpful way to avoid tourist trap restaurants when traveling: Where Chefs Eat, a soon-to-be-released guidebook to chefs' favorite restaurants in all the world's major cities. Claiming to be "the first international restaurant guide by the real insiders," the book will include more than 2,000 recommendations from more than 400 chefs. And boy is it an impressive list: David Chang, Rene Redzepi, Sean Brock, Eric Ripert, Ferran Adria, Daniel Boulud, April Bloomfield, and so many more chefs lend their advice in this mammoth of a 700-page guidebook.
Edited by The Guardian's restaurant writer Joe Warwick, Where Chefs Eat is arranged by country and city, and it will also feature "entertaining reviews, quotes from the chefs, clever maps and an easy-to-use system of organization." It'll be available as an iPhone and iPad app, too, and will be released by Phaidon in January 2013. Here now, a trailer for the guide in which London and New York-based chefs share their picks for late-night dining, special occasions, bargain meals, and more.
