In an effort to boost domestic beer sales, Budweiser is launching three of six planned limited-edition beers named for the zip codes in which they are brewed. Los Angeles, St. Louis and Williamsburg, Virginia will all have the honor-ish of drinking numerically friendly brews next month, chosen by consumers in summer taste tests. Via Reuters:
The beers, named for ZIP codes in Los Angeles (91406), St. Louis (63118) and Williamsburg, Va., (23185) are the winners of a project begun in the spring, when Budweiser asked for 12 recipes from its brewmasters. Of the 12, six were chosen to be brewed in small batches. In Colorado, at least, the mega-brewer's small-batch brewing is already underway: this summer, Budweiser released its 80524 beer, originating in Fort Collins. Unwitting craft beer drinkers can start confusing Budweiser's Project 12 beers with local beverages on October 29th, when they'll be available in 12-bottle packs.
