Here's Sweet Cream and Sugar Cones, the cookbook for six-year-old San Francisco ice cream shop Bi-Rite Creamery by its founders Anne Walker and Kris Hoogerhyde. (It was cowritten by food writer Dabney Gough.) Chapters are broken into flavor groupings: vanilla, caramel, chocolate, berries, and so on.
The book isn't just ice cream recipes, though: Hoogerhyde and Walker share recipes for popsicles, cookies for ice cream sandwiches, and layered ice cream cakes that appear both sophisticated and old fashioned at the same time. Recipes take a mix-and-match approach, offering base recipes and accompanying variations on each. Sweet Cream and Sugar Cones comes out from Ten Speed on April 17 (preorder on Amazon); here's a trailer for the book:
