It's official: on October 20th, Albert Adrià will relaunch 41 Degrees, the cocktail and snack bar connected to his Barcelona tapas project Tickets, as 41 Degrees Experience, a 16-seat restaurant serving a 41-course tasting of tapas. For the time being, the restaurant will operate from within the original location on the Parallel, but the release notes that they are looking for a larger space that can accommodate more diners.
In conversation over the summer, Adrià assured that he would not be doing away with the emphasis on cocktails, describing the project as a "new concept" in which mixology will play an important but not overwhelming role. And although his goal is to create an emotional experience for customers, he doesn't want this to be anything like elBulli: "I won't be going for the avant-garde. I'll be pressing people's buttons with flavors above all."
From 7 PM to midnight the space will function as a restaurant, and from then on until it closes at 2 AM, it will be a cocktail bar. Details on pricing are not yet available, but reservations can be made through the website and by email.
