S. Pellegrino, which puts out the World's Best Restaurants list every year, has announced the shortlist for their first-ever Veuve Cliquot World's Best Female Chef Award: Elena Arzak of Spain's Arzak (which placed ninth on the World's Best list last year), Anne-Sophie Pic from Maison Pic in France (last year's 51), and Nadia Santini of Italy's Dal Pescatore (last year's 36).
On the one hand, we're excited to see lady chefs getting some press; but on the other hand, is this really necessary? We'd prefer to see more women on the main list over all, and especially one in the top three. We'd rather see them celebrated for their food than their gender.
