This week we head to San Diego, a city not yet under the Eater purview, and select ten newish locales that have been garnering serious buzz. This time around, we've been fortunate enough to consult San Diego Magazine restaurant critic Candice Woo, who has shared with us some of her picks.
Woo explained some of the trends to look out for in recent openings, and on the scene in general: "Our food is becoming increasingly more ingredient-driven; San Diego has the largest number of small farms in the country and with our amazing climate, the growing seasons are very long. We obviously have good seafood, too — did an interview with Anthony Bourdain where he called our local sea urchin the best in the world. And, finally, our craft beer scene is just incredible. It's what will get San Diego on the map and make it a true food destination."
Here now, the Eater Heat Map to San Diego, a chronicle of the city's restaurants of the moment.
