GQ's Alan Richman declared the Los Angeles-based Umami Burger (with four locations in California) as the burger of the year. He writes: "Elsewhere in L.A., the burger world is in disarray... The old L.A. order—In-N-Out Burger, Fatburger, Bob's Big Boy, Tommy's—is in retreat..." On owner Adam Fleischman: “It's clear that he has looked into the heart of the burger and seen what others have not.” [GQ]
