Bon Appétit magazine is doing a pop-up at Lincoln Center during September's Fashion Week in New York City for the third year in a row (September 12-16). The Bon Appétit Café — "a location for food lovers, fashionistas and New Yorkers to meet, eat and rejuvenate" — will serve coffee and pastries from Le Bernardin, Baked NYC, and Momofuku Milk Bar from 9-10 AM. Lunch will be provided by the likes of Rick Bayless, Emeril Lagasse, Cat Cora, Bill Telepan, and half a dozen others. And in the evening, there will be a "chic wine bar" with small plates from Mario Batali and Daniel Boulud.
Since the cafe's tagline is "Where Food Meets Fashion," will there be any "meeting" or collaboration by chefs and fashion designers? Not exactly! New Conde Nast exec Carol Smith, in charge of Bon App and Gourmet, who famously said back in April, "What's the difference between food and fashion? Not much," told WWD, "I don't think there has to be that literal of a connection... It's not going to be, 'Today, Zac Posen will be making his favorite paella and Michael White is going to be there helping him.' I don't think that's going to happen."
