The hot media rumor du jour is that author Jay McInerney will take the wine columnist gig at the Wall Street Journal. Earlier this year, the WSJ parted ways with its longtime wine writer tandem of Dorothy J. Gaiter and John Brecher. For his part, McInerney has some strong credentials: not only did he co-write the screenplay of Gia (the one where Angelina Jolie got naked), but once upon a time, he was also the wine columnist for House & Garden magazine, and has published two collections of his wine essays: Bacchus & Me (2000) and A Hedonist in the Cellar (2006).
For what it's worth, Food & Wine beverage honcho Ray Isle is twittering that it's a done deal, but there's no confirmation from the Wall Street Journal quite yet.

UPDATE: More confirmation of sorts, this time from Jancis Robinson.
