After a decade of doing his job incognito, Houston critic Robb Walsh has decided to take the plunge and do away with his anonymity once and for all. Walsh chalks up the paradigm shift to the New York Times's big leap, and perhaps even more interestingly, Walsh also shares his views on the new role of restaurant critic:
The fact is, my job is changing. I was hired as a newspaper restaurant critic and feature writer. Today I am, first and foremost, a blogger. It's a little ludicrous to try and maintain your anonymity while you are photographing your plate. And sometimes you need to identify yourself to get a interview. The time has come to adjust to fit my new job description.Sam Sifton, look what you have wrought.
