EaterWire Midday Edition: Colin Alevras to Open 'La Otra' in The East Village
Tuesday, June 24, 2008, by Amanda

2008_06_colinalveras.jpgEAST VILLAGE— Many fans of Colin Alevras, the locavore chef behind the Tasting Room, were justifiably upset when they found out he had shuttered his Nolita restaurant without any warning three weeks ago. They bemoaned the closure on the blogs, they held a formal mourning dinner at Astor Center. Well, if it's any consolation TR fanatics, Colin Alevras won't be out of the kitchen for very long. We hear from inside sources that he will be opening up a new Cuban restaurant, to be called La Otra, in the space of an East Village restaurant that has yet to close. Stay tuned as we'll be keeping an eye out for some EVill shutters over the next couple weeks.
