EaterWire: Bardolino Seized, Top Chef Set-Ups, Marriott Goes Green & Galapagos News
Thursday, May 29, 2008

2008_05_bardolinos.jpgUPPER EAST SIDE—78th Street's Bardolino has been seized: "So far, it's been a rough year for Italian eatery Bardolino...There was the fire back in February...more bad news courtesy of the New York State Department of Taxation, which, according to the posted signs on the restaurant's window, has closed and seized the premises until they fork over some cash." [78thand2nd]

TOP CHEF UNIVERSE— Remember those frozen scallops that sent Spike home on last night's Top Chef? They may have been planted: "Just so everyone knows (I was part of the Top Chef taping that aired last night) the scallops in the challenge that sent Spike down the pike were a set-up placed by Top Chef's producers into the restaurant's coolers. That was not conveyed in the editing process." [Gawker]

BATTERY PARK CITY— The Marriott Downtown is "going green" by installing eleven "gas fired microturbines" to reduce their carbon emissions. However to do this they have to shut off all natural gas service to the hotel. What this means for diners at Roy's NY: they'll be serving all cold food for the rest of the week. [EaterWire]

DUMBO— Brownstoner is providing up-to-the-minute coverage on Galapagos' move to DUMBO. What's new today? They've got an awning!! [Brownstoner]
