Restaurant Mashups Caffeinated Edition: Jack's & Rice
Monday, May 12, 2008

2008_05_jacks.jpgIt's no NY Stuffed Idaho/Urban Lobster mashup, but the city's newest combo still strikes us as curious. We received the following tip/possible shill from the inbox: "I just learned that as of yesterday morning, the infamous Jack's coffee shop of the west village is joining the neighborhood like Gimme Coffee in Nolita. The new Jack's is an outpost inside Nolita favorite Rice...they told me today they plan on doing window takeout orders like Cafe Gitane. Finally good coffee in Nolita." Sounds like Rice, which had some liquor license delays with its move to a much bigger space last year, needs some help making ends meet, and Jack's found an easy way to expand without finding their own space. Win-win.
