MONTAUK—Sam Talbot, pretty boy Top Chef runner up, has signed on to run the restaurant at Jamie Mullholland's new surf shack in Montauk, Surf Lodge. It will be Talbot's first real project since getting the adios from Padma and seeing a deal to run the kitchen at Spitzer's fall through. Surf Lodge partner Steven "Special K" Kamali wouldn't confirm that he's in final negotiations with Talbot, via shorty chef handler to the stars, Scott Feldman. But as Talbot was boasting about the deal this weekend, seems he's not going to let his beach house disappear over the contract details. All in, it's a good move for Talbot, who's been in search of the right stage for the better part of two years. Still uncertain is whether Talbot can get a staff trained and ready in a mere four weeks: Opening is projected for Memorial Day weekend.
