Tuesday, March 11, 2008

Available 2-tops, 10:54 AM

Get your credit cards ready: the wait is over. The Momofuku Ko reservation site just went live at http://reservations.momofuku.com/. It subsequently crashed, but looks like the tech problems have been worked out. The site will open up tables for a week to the day every day at 10 a.m., so if you can't get in today, have those interns and assistants ready tomorrow morning. Place is closed on Tuesdays. [MomofukuWire]

UPDATE 10:08AM: The site is back up, but the CAPTCHA on the account creation screen isn't coming up. Office-wide meltdown in progress at Eater HQ.

UPDATE 10:10AM: Oh, the humanity: an eGulleteer has scored a precious 7:30PM reservation for March 14. Keep trying, people.

UPDATE 10:11AM: Official word: "The server is getting pounded."

UPDATE 10:23-24AM: Two Eater commenters have scored. As a public service, please do let us know what times and dates have been procured. Merci.

UPDATE 10:27AM: Uh oh. This is going to leave a mark. Per an Eater commenter, "if you put in your cc number and the server errors out before you complete the registration, it won't let you go back in and continue the registration. it says your cc has been used. wtf!?" Handy tip: early word is that any 15-digit number works to secure a RESY.

UPDATE 10:28 AM: Email from team Momofuku: "Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

UPDATE 10:35 AM: One person at Eater HQ just got through to the email confirmation stage, while others are enjoying a screen that will now and forever be remembered as "Server Error in '/' Application." Aaaand now it's back down.

UPDATE 10:38AM: An Eater commenter says, "I got through at 10:38 and got a spot for 2 on Saturday evening, prime time. Email confirmation in hand. Still a fair number of slots available as of 6 minutes ago so don't give up." Faith, people. Faith.

Available 4-tops, 10:43 AM

UPDATE 10:43 AM: A lucky few, 67 to be exact, have gotten through and made resies. At present, three slots remain (above). Time to start flipping cars.

UPDATE 10:48AM: Eater commenter: "my window shows more spots than what eater has on their grid." Lag-time, or something more nefarious? Actually, the grid at top of this post shows the available four-tops. Onesies and twosies, keep on fighting.

Available 2-tops, 10:50 AM

UPDATE 10:50AM: Team Momofuku emails to say the top screen shot is of the available two tops left (above). The prior shot was just four tops. Don't lose hope yet people.

UPDATE 11:03 AM: Reports of intermittent success continue to come in. Resies remain available (screen shot at top). Eater HQ has received an confirmation email and we are at present looking at the resy calendar.

Two screen grabs, both allegedly taken at 11:15 AM

UPDATE 11:16 AM: We just took a potentially dark turn here, people. Above, two screen grabs, both apparently from 11:15 AM. Code RED: Get Chang to the bunker now.

Now that's a shame, 11:26 AM

UPDATE 11:26 AM: http://reservations.momofuku.com is once again behind a password. Repeat, the password is back up.

UPDATE 11:48 AM: The password is down, but the site isn't coming up at Eater HQ. Just the endless spinning ball. The pretty, pretty spinning ball...

UPDATE 12 PM: As the clock strikes noon, the site appears functional again, if just for a moment. After a brief glitch in which an empty grid appeared (as above at 11:15), a lucky soul at Eater HQ just scored a two-top for Friday March 14 at 7pm. The 2-top grid is still pretty open, with several opening-night slots still available. And with that small victory, we hereby end this liveblog; ongoing Ko coverage continues here.

UPDATE 2:15 PM: Ko-BOOM: Week one fully booked.
