Florent Watch: Everybody Wants a Piece of Florent

This morning, we reported that the MePa institution Florent was finally on the market and listed by the real estate group Winick (pdf) for a long term $700k a year lease. As it turns out, Winick isn't representing the owner of the property, so much as they're trying to generate interest in the space for their clients. An email from the broker representing the owner of 69 Gansevoort, one Matt Cohen of Lansco clarifies:

Lansco is working with the landlord not Winick. Please update your records accordingly. It is strange that Stephen May would email me for the asking rent. The current rent for the space is $350 per square foot on the ground and $100 per square foot on the 2nd floor.
Those numbers give a yearly rent of $605k a year, or just over $50k a month (basement is included with price of ground floor, roof with second floor). We'll take two.
