Sappore, a cheap, easy pasta solution on Greenwich Avenue, has lost its lease and closed. West Village reader report: "Before the holiday break, Jefferson Village (what I call the little sliver between 6th ave and 7th ave around Jefferson Market) neighborhood Italian favorite Sapore was cleared out and had a sign that they were gone for the holidays. As of yesterday, the place is toast - windows papered over with sign from owners lamenting increased rents and the unfortunate closure. Baffling that stores nearby selling cheap trinkets and luggage survive but popular corner restaurant stalwarts cannot." [Shutter Inbox]
