Chubo Restaurant On the Market, Its Owners Ready to Move On
Wednesday, October 3, 2007
From the nice people at Lower Eastsider Chubo comes word that the venue is for sale. A direct request to let the restaurant operate in its remaining days un-Deathwatched will be honored. Claude Chassagne, the owner, writes, "Please don't death watch me. Chubo is operating and business is healthy. Somethings trump business ownership. I included listing, contact information as well a photo. Thank you for your time and your help in the past. Best, Claude." Ok, sir, you got it. And now, for the listing:

A sad, sad day. Is it my fault? Did I not go there enough? I'm sorry, Claude, for letting you down. The writing was on the wall when the spinach dip got replaced by olive oil...
No restaurant is perfect, but we need more places where the cooking is interesting and the chef thinks about more than slinging steaks and burgers. Very sad to see Claude go.
Chubo is a rare restaurant in NYC that offered delicious food at a reasonable price in a nice environment. I will be sad to see it go, as it was such a great value. I've had many great meals there. Such a solid, non-pretentious neighborhood place. Good luck Claude.
I am going to cry all night long. No one on the east side cooks like Claude Chassagne, the value for money is amazing. I don't know where I will bring my foodie friends anymore... or for that matter, my in-laws.
NOOOOOOOOoooo! I love this place. It was the perfect place to take my parents for family dinners and to take my boyfriend for special occasions. There's nothing else like it on the LES. I will miss you, Chubo.
