Nolita Not Feeling Ivan Kane, His Proposed Forty Deuce
Wednesday, September 12, 2007
Nolita residents showed up en masse at a meeting of Community Board 2 last night to protest the approval of a liquor license for Forty Deuce, the burlesque club that Vegas/LA hotshot Ivan Kane is planning for 19 Kenmare Street. Daily News has the story:
"Kane, who owns clubs in Los Angeles and Las Vegas, said the club will feature two 20-minute dance shows seven nights a week, but the sexy dancers will not be nude, nor will they have any contact with patrons. "There's no nudity, there's no lap dances," Kane said. "There's no pole. It's high art."
The business committee will announce today its recommendation regarding the club's liquor license, and the entire community board, which initially approved the license, will then decide whether to support the decision.
Kane said he'll abandon the project without the license, which is given by the state Liquor Authority.
