2007_08_elyssa%20dido%20interior.png1) Elyssa Dido: BelDel Plywood vet Elyssa Dido, a North African and Mediterranean restaurant, has shed its wood and opened. A source, who may or may not be affiliated with the establishment, writes: "just wanted to let you know that Elyssa Dido at 85 Orchard Street has opened three weeks ago. They have a beautiful space and absolutely phenomenal food! See, if you would like to check it out!" Enthusiastic. We wish them luck in getting a liquor license. 85 Orchard St between Broome and Grand Sts; (212) 991-9800 [Eater Inbox]

2) Sangria 46: What to say about month-old midtown Spanish tapas restaurant Sangria 46? Well, they're serving a pretty extensive, pricey assortment of small plates and sangria. The restaurant also offers a $18 prix-fixe lunch, which should please the business folks in the area, and a $27 pre-theater prix fixe, which should please all the old folks in the area. Ah, that's all we got. 338 W 46th St between Eighth and Ninth Aves; (212) 581-8482 [Eater Inbox]

3) Mitchel London Pizza: From one type of junk food to another: The restaurant that used to dish up burgers and cupcakes in Hell's Pantry (called Burgers & Cupcakes) is now serving pizza. 456 Ninth Ave between 35th and 36th Sts; (212) 563-7741 [Strongbuzz, third item; Chowhound]

4) Madeleine: A pastry shop has opened in Chelsea selling madeleines and 18 types of macaroons. As Flo Fab reports, they also have "Fresh fruit tartlets, like the elegant cherry variety..minitartlets...and small, rich chocolate croissants." Most if not all of the baked goods are priced under five dollars. 128 W 23rd St between Sixth and Seventh Aves; (212) 243-2757 [Flo Fab]

5) Caminito: The city was graced with another Argentinian steakhouse this week, when Caminito opened in East Harlem. Aside from beef, they're also serving empanadas and veal milanese. 1664 Park Ave between 117th and 118th Sts; (212) 289-1343 [NY Mag; NY Sun]]

6) Tamboril: A Clinton Hill porn shop has been reincarnated as a Latin eatery. There's not much else to be found floating about the internets on Tamboril, but the dish that TONY mentions in their preview blurb (cod fritters with mint-mango sauce) sounds promising. 527 Myrtle Ave between Grand and Steuben Sts, Clinton Hill, Brooklyn; (718) 622-5130 [TONY; Myrtle Minutes]
