Plywood Report: Remedy Diner, Georgia's BBQ, Jane Redux!
Friday, July 13, 2007
1) Lower East Side: Signs of life in the long-dormant Petrosino space on Houston Street and Norfolk. Looks like it's going to be called Remedy Diner. Low-grade plywood signage: never a good sign. [PRE-PLYWOOD]
2) Lower East Side: Judging by photos submitted this week to the Eater Photo Pool, Orchard Street newcomer (and Plywood vet) Georgia's Eastside BBQ is ready to open, but the gates are still down. Assume they're waiting for paperwork? [POST-PLYWOOD]
3) East Village: A tipster emails, "Re: the shuttering of Pizzeria Uno on 55 3rd Avenue between 10th and 11th. A few months back, the owners of Jane and The Neptune Room made a deal to have the lease at 553rd Avenue turned over to them starting July 1. Plans are to do a more downscale dorm-friendly Jane-style place. At least, this was what one of the Jane managers told me." [PRE-PLYWOOD]
Besides above, is this going to be a greek diner? The half-broken sign above has an Astoria address on it. I hope so, and hope it has mirrors and purple neon lights (seriously I do). Big lack of those in Manhattan...Loside would have survived if it were. I want my Buffalo burgers!
Actually, I heard it may be a greek diner but i don't think you'll find the mirrors and neon lights you are looking for. It will be probably be more trendy yet priced moderately. I cant wait till it opens there is nothing of it's kind near me.
