EaterWire: The Grill's Back At Gowanus Yacht Club & More!
Monday, July 23, 2007
SMITH STREET—All is right with the world, as the Gowanus Yacht Club'sGrillGate has ended and the establishment is once again serving up grilled hotdogs and hamburgers. A tipster fills us in on the bucolic scene: "im happy to report that the grill at gyc is up and running, and both sat and sunday the deck was filled with smiling sweaty people, finding comfort under the spraying sprinkler and enjoying grilled dogs, burgers, and keilbasa. (sp?) one interesting tidbit: there is a line dividing the the deck in half, with smoking only allowed on one half." [EaterWire Inbox]
TRIBECA—Diminutive drink spot/eatery Smith and Mills, which is arguably the best thing that's happened to the Tribeca nightlife scene in the past few years, just began serving breakfast and lunch. The menu looks pretty sparse, but then again, what are you expecting from a joint the size of a walk-in closet? [Cutlets]
DAILY DOH—Perhaps the most-hated-upon barbecue restaurant in the history of New York City, Biscuit BBQ, has been shuttered by the DOH. A reader writes, "thank god. awful bbq. even the dept. of health hated it yellow signs in the window when i went past the restaurant on 5th ave. in park slope." [EaterWire Inbox]
