The Dish: Sense, Ed's Lobster Bar, Blind Tiger, Azza, Nita Nita

In death, there is life. Shall we move on to the more cheery fare?

1) Sense: Let's start this edition of Dish with the particularly un-sensibly named Sense. This non-Googlable Williamsburg spot is serving a hodge-podge mix of Pan-Asian dishes. Apparently, we're talking sushi, curries, satays, congees and more. (106 North 6th St, btwn Berry and Wythe Sts, Williamsburg, Brooklyn, (718) 218-8666) [TONY]

2) Ed's Lobster Bar: Soft-opening tonight in Soho is Ed's Lobster Bar, a seafood shack from Ed McFarland, previously a chef at Pearl Oyster Bar. UrbanDaddy likens the spot to Momofuku, mainly because it's small and has a long communal bar for dining and UrbanDaddy likes to do that kind of thing to spike their open rates. Expect standards like lobster rolls and chowder as well as dishes like lobster pot pie. (222 Lafayette St, btwn Spring and Broome Sts, (212) 343-3236). [Daily Candy, UrbanDaddy]

3) Blind Tiger Ale House: As of 4pm today, Blind Tiger is open and serving beer. A celebration pint or two is in order, no? (281 Bleecker St at Jones St, (212) 462-4682) [Official Site; Thrillist]

4) Azza: This French-Moroccan newcomer sounds gimmicky: hookahs, curtains, Arabian rugs, Eurohouse music. But the chef, Steven Ferdinand, has good credentials, having spent time at Le Cirque and Aquavit. The menu includes items such as lemon and olive monkfish tagine, and rack of lamb with vegetable chutney. Hopefully Ferdinand will keep the place from turning into a midtown Le Souk. 2007_03_NitaNita.jpg5) Nita Nita: At right, we have Nita Nita, a new Spanish tapas destination. Though the market for Spanish tapas in Manhattan is currently saturated, there aren't many options in the Williamsburg area for snacks like smashed sweet potatoes and chorizo, a good sign for the eatery. (146 Wythe Ave, btwn 6th and 7th Sts, Williamsburg, Brooklyn, (718) 388-5328). [Yelp, Menupages]
